Susan Rice, 56, of Galien, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in her residence. Susan was born May 24, 1962 in Oakland, California to Charles and Barbara (Carwein) Pollock.Fondly known as Sue, she could light up any room. She had a strong bond with her family and had a contagious laugh.
Susan attracted others, new friends were instant family and she would go out of her way to make others feel like they belong. Strong willed and independent, she was a positive light to all who knew her. Susan was your cheerleader and her family’s biggest fan. A true giver, she was always sincerely interested in what was happening with others; she was completely selfless.
Susan had many interests; she liked to refinish furniture and was willing to try anything new. Susan loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, boating, canoeing, and camping. She dedicated much of her time to beautifying her home. Music was very important part of Sue’s life and her children will forever carry that on with their talents.
Susan will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her children Leon (Adrienne) Casper of Elkhart, Charles (Chrisynthia) Casper of New Carlisle, Melanie (Ryan) Kolberg of Melbourne, Florida, Amy Ressler of Jacksonville, Florida, Sarah (Josh Kunkel) Rice of Galien, and Jamie Rice of Galien; grandchildren Adisa, Cameron, Leon Jr., Miles, Michael, Alexandra, Mason, Dominic, Junie, and Gwen; father Charles (Jackie) Pollock; sister Terri; brothers Charles and Mark; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Susan was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Jean.
