Susan Margaret Thomsen passed away on August 17th, 2020 surrounded by her family, grandchildren, cuddly cats (Ms. Kitty & Sparky) and enough painting supplies to launch her very own Art supply store. Susan was a gentle soul. She treasured the quiet of nature and the simple unhindered beauty that it provided.
The gentle purring of her cats as she stroked them complimented the peace in which she thrived. She may have been a gentle soul, but there was no denying her Minnesota requirement for “COFFEE.” Georgia heat and humidity didn’t stand a chance against a hot cup of joe. Dunkin was her favorite and one of her last drinks was this divine elixir. Hopefully, Dunkin Donuts and their coffee made it to the heavenly gates. As she settled in with her warm comforting coffee, Susan would often pursue her passion of painting. The Dewberry community of painters opened their arms and provided hours of supportive companionship as she lost herself in her talent.
Flowers were her glory. If she had a larger urn, she’d insist on painting flowers on it. Susan thrived in the warmth of Tennessee/Georgia. However, Minnesota would always hold a special place in her heart. She declared that the St. Croix river was officially her river and requested that she be returned to it. That final wish will be made true.
As we say our farewells to Susan, I leave you with my mother’s heavenly bliss: she is sitting in a garden of butterflies and hummingbirds surrounded by her pets that came before her all while sipping her favorite cup of coffee. Tranquility at last.
Susan is survived by her brother, Paul Heineman; sister in laws Diana and Glenice Heineman; daughter, Gail; son-in-law Karthik; grandchildren Rohan and Sophia, and 2 kitties.
