Susan Leann Higgins, a resident of Elsie, Michigan, died on June 13, 2024 after a prolonged illness. She was 58 years old.Sue was born in Coldwater, Michigan on May 14, 1966, the daughter of Duane and Sheila Furney, and grew up in Coldwater where she was a graduate of Bronson High School. Following high school she attended Michigan State University where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and her Paralegal Degree. It was at Michigan State that Sue, nicknamed \”Furn-dog\” made many lifelong friendships in Gilchrist Hall, the \”Gilchrist Girls\”, and where she met the love of her life, Tim Higgins. She and Tim were married in Coldwater on June 17, 1989 and they settled in Elsie, Michigan. Sue loved her home and her \”peaceful life\”, where she enjoyed gardening, landscaping and raising family pets. She and Tim owned the hardware store in Elsie for fifteen years, and in recent years she has enjoyed her work in the resolutions department with Case Federal Credit Union in Lansing where she had many friends.Sue dearly loved her husband, her children and her grandsons, and they were her absolute priority. They will miss her dearly. In addition to Tim, her beloved husband of thirty-five years, she leaves her son, Johnathon Landis; her daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Higgins and Ella Grace (Andrew) Slocum; her grandsons, Samuel Arthur and Henry Michael Slocum; her parents, Duane and Sheila Furney; sister, Cindy (Mike) Snyder; brother, Michael (April) Furney, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
