Susan Jane Ott, age 70, of Osceola, Nebraska, passed away October 19, 2020 at Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center in Osceola.
Susan was born June 26, 1950 to Raymond L. and Betty Jane (Augustin) Vrbka in Shelby. She attended Shelby Sacred Heart elementary, Aquinas High School and graduated from Shelby High School in 1968. She continued her education at Kearney State with a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in music.
On June 12, 1971 she was united in marriage to Gary Gene Ott at Shelby Sacred Heart Catholic Church. To this union four children were born.
Susan and Gary lived in Sumner, Nebraska and she taught at Eddyville, Nebraska for one year. They moved to Shelby in 1972 where she began her kindergarten teaching career retiring after 42 years.
She was a member of Shelby Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was an organist and choir leader. She was a member of St. Anne’s Guild, Shelby Education Association, Shelby American Legion Auxiliary, she was a 4-H leader for the Young Shelby Pioneers. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and children and also enjoyed reading. She crocheted special Christmas gifts for her students each year. She also enjoyed being a volunteer at the Polk County Fair.
Survivors include her husband Gary of Osceola; sons Jason (Carolyn) Ott of Ashburn, VA, Jeremy Ott of Gretna, Jordan (Bonnie) Ott of Omaha; daughter Stacy (Steven) Stewart of Shelby; eight grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Jerry (Peggy) Vrbka of Shelby, Judy (Kevin) Kuhnel McWilliams of Springfield, MO, Lori Freeman of Lincoln, Cal (Trish) Vrbka of Shelby, Andy (Jodie) Vrbka of Clarks, Angie (Virgil) King of Shelby, Nancy Vrbka of Kansas City, MO; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law LaVerne Kuhnel.
