Sunday R. Wesche, a radiant woman with an overflowing love for Jesus, died peacefully at home on Feb. 5th, in Nampa, Idaho, at the age of 70, after a 6 month battle with brain cancer. Her husband, children, and sister Sue were by her side as she entered into her eternal reward.
Sunday was born to Gene and Judy LeBoeuf in Grangeville, Idaho, on Dec. 28, 1947. She graduated from Northwest Christian College in Eugene, Oregon and traveled with the Continental Singers for a time. For the next seven years Sunday directed a youth ministry in Wichita, Kansas called “All God’s Children” which included a youth choir of 350 young people and transformed countless lives. In 1977, she came home to Nampa and was introduced to Bud Wesche who was the Superintendent of Nampa Christian. After he hired her to teach music and direct the school choirs, it soon became obvious that God had a long term relationship planned for these two.
They were married on July 30, 1978. Their son, John Nathan, was born in March of 1980 and their daughter Anna Jan (“Annie”) was born in June of 1983. From 1981-1983, Bud and Sunday helped start a Christian school in Coeur d’Alene, ID before eventually returning to Nampa. Sunday’s love for the Lord Jesus Christ was obvious and contagious. Only eternity will reveal the vast number of people she influenced for Christ. She was many things: an exceptional wife and mother, a beloved daughter and sister, and a faithful friend to so many. She was a women’s retreat speaker, teacher, choir director, soloist, and store manager. But within all of that, she was known as a woman of faithful prayer and love, who treasured the Word of God and discipled countless others to love and live for Jesus!
Sunday was preceded in death by both parents and her two brothers, Jim and Richard. She is survived by her loving husband, Harold H. “Bud” Wesche, son John Nathan Wesche, daughter Annie Wesche, sister Sue (Perry) Underwood, sisters-in-law Ronna LeBoeuf and Helen LeBoeuf, and Bud’s sisters, Gerri (Ray) Wilson, Patricia Lubiens, and Alice Nafziger.
The loss of her beautiful life will be felt deeply by many, but we are comforted knowing that she is in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, forevermore, where there is no more pain, or sorrow, or tears, or sadness.
