Thelma Evalyn Stroud, age 97, of Salem, Ark., died Friday, June 12, 2015, at Fulton County Hospital. She was born October 30, 1917, in Loomis, Wash. She was the daughter of the late Albert Alvaro Judd and Eva Letha Judd (formerly Adair).
She was united in marriage on February 11, 1938, in Tonasket, Wash., to William Roy Stroud, who preceded her in death on October 1, 1992. They spent 54 years together as husband and wife. Also preceding her in death were grandchildren Randy Stroud and Leigh Ann Stroud.
Mrs. Stroud graduated from high school in Spokane, Wash., at age 16. She became a homemaker devoted to her family and was a talented seamstress, gardener and cook. She won multiple Fulton County Fair ribbons for the culinary arts and was an Arkansas winner of a statewide Pillsbury-sponsored bake-off. Mrs. Stroud was an extremely active and valued member of the Salem Church of Christ. She taught ladies’ Bible study classes and was still volunteering for vacation Bible school when she was 90 years old.
Mrs. Stroud is survived by her brother Al Judd of Austin, Tex.; sons William “Bill” Stroud (Gwen) of Salem, Ark., Robert “Bob” Stroud (Mary Lee) of Hardy, Ark., and James “Jim” Stroud (Kandie) of Pittsburg, Kan.; daughters Mary Anne Burleson (Danny) of Little Rock, Ark., and Evalyn Hunt of Salem, Ark.; grandchildren Jennifer Stroud of Nashville, Tenn., Jeff Stroud (Daralee) of Mountain Home, Ark., Kim Burleson of Little Rock, Ark., Kari Wicker (Robert) of Greenville, Miss., Kristin Wood (Tim) of Cheyenne, Wyo., Lindsey Hunt of Salem, Ark., Christopher Hunt of Salem, Ark., Jamie Wilmeth (Zac) of Edmond, Okla., Jesse Stroud of Pittsburg, Kan.; and eight great-grandchildren.
