Stewart Lyon, Major USAF Retired, 90, passed away February 16th, in Gainesville, GA and was the son of Fred A. and Inez S. Lyon. He was born in Polk County, GA, April 20th, 1923. Stewart is survived by his wife of 61 years Dorothy; his son and daughter-in-law Douglas J. and Elaine W. Lyon; grandsons Bradley J. Lyon and grand daughter-in-law Nicole; Brandon S. Lyon and grand daughter-in-law Ashley; great granddaughter Blakely Ann Lyon; and nephew John C. Porter. Mr. Lyon was preceded in death by his sister Mary Nan Lyon Porter. Mr. Lyon graduated from Cave Spring High School, attended Georgia State University and subsequently lived in the Atlanta area 65 years. He served in the Army Air Corp. in World War II and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a retired Major in the Air Force Reserve serving over 21 years. Stewart was a devoted family man and especially enjoyed engaging with his grandsons who he affectionately referred to as the boys . He was a lifelong fan of aviation and enjoyed several trips to such fly ins as Oshkosh, WI, Blakesburg, IA, and Sun N Fun, FL.
