Stewart Bruce Almas, 80, Shelbyville, died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Crestview Center. A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, he had made his home in the U.S. since 1952. He was a veteran of the Canadian Army and served during the Korean War Era. He worked as a house mover for Almas International, a company of significant renown. Pacific Movers Heavy Haulers, a subsidiary of Almas International, was selected to handle the sinking of the Titanic when the movie was filmed, an exciting project of which he was proud to be a part. He then was a union ironworker for Bickerton Iron Works in Torrence, CA for many years.

One brother, Raymond Almas, preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, Kim W. (Katheryn L.) Almas of Orange Park, FL and Kevin Almas (Dawn E. Hudnell) of Newport, OR; one sister, Corinne Foxcroft of Vancouver, British Columbia; one brother, Ron Almas of Newfoundland, Canada; his life partner, Carol Lee Palmer of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has been selected. There will be no services.
