Steven Wallace Duncan, age 79, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away Sunday, January 30th, 2022 at Community South Hospital.

Steve was born September 16th, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents Andy Duncan and Vera (Smart) Duncan. He attended Indianapolis Public Schools and finished his formal schooling at Arsenal Tech High School. Steve joined the Air Force in April 1960. During his time in the Air Force, he fulfilled such duties as Auto Flight Control Specialist, Auto Pilot Compass System Repairman, and 1st Armament & Electronics Maintenance Specialist. Steve served until April 1964 at which time he was honorably discharged at the rank of Airman E3.

After the Military he continued to hone his skills in Heating & AC, network, telephone, and data communications. He put those skills to work at companies like Pepsi, Sears, and Indiana Bell/Ameritech. Steve retired from Ameritech at the age of 52. However, he went on to hold positions at several different companies. Steve was very talented with all things mechanical, electrical, and pretty much anything else. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix.

Steve loved his family fiercely and would be the first to lend a hand if a friend or family member needed help. He was married to the love of his life, Chyrl Duncan, for 43 years. Steve was an avid lover of author Louis L’Amour, having read his entire collection of over 100 books multiple times. He loved westerns, riding horses, ATVs, riding his Harley in the Rockies, spending time with family in Colorado, his 48 Ford Truck, and he would always remind us that there were only two kinds of music – Country and Western.

Steve Duncan is survived by his wife, Chyrl (Shannon) Duncan, son, Mike Duncan (Martha), bonus-children, Natalie (Shawn Russell), and Vincent Jackson (Sherise Beeson). He had 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Andy Duncan, mother, Vera (Smart) Duncan, two brothers, Lynn Duncan and David Duncan, and sister, Kathy (Palmer) Duncan.
