Steve Haggerty (Hags), age 68, passed away on June 28th, 2021. Born May 12th, 1953, in Denver, Colorado. Preceded in death by parents Joseph and Annette (Skippy) Haggerty. Growing up in the Littleton area, Steve quickly found a love for athletics where he began a remarkably successful football career at Arapahoe High School. He was admired by many for his sheer speed and agility on the field. His football career continued into college where he played at the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of Nevada Las Vegas. After college, his childhood dream came true when Steve was drafted to play for the Denver Broncos where he played in one game in 1975.
After a career ending injury, he continued his love of the sport by coaching. For years he coached both football and golf. He progressed to an assistant and golf pro at several golf clubs in the Denver area. Steve shared his love of golf with his children, family, and friends. He was always willing to give anyone pointers on their swing. He was nearly always in attendance at his children’s baseball and football games, gymnastics and swim meets, and cheerleading competitions. The Haggerty family’s love for sports was passed on and will continue for generations.
In November of 2012, Steve received a double lung transplant. This life saving procedure gave him a second lease on life.
Steve is survived by his partner Judith Singleton, son Henry Haggerty, son Hunter Haggerty (Erika), daughter Josephine Haggerty and two grandsons Huxton & Hayes.
