Steven Garrett, age 67, of Burt, passed away on Wednesday December 16, 2020 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Steven Wayne Garrett, the son of Walter and Genevieve (Goeders) Garrett, was born on September 24, 1953 in Schaller, Iowa. Steven married Shirley Jorpland in July 31, 1972 in Estherville. Shirley passed away in 2015. Steven then married Elain (Anderson) Gifford on April 30, 2016 at the Burt Presbyterian Church. He had worked as a welder at Sky Jack in Emmetsburg. Steven was a jack of all trades, he loved fishing and gardening.
Left to cherish Steven’s memory is his wife, Elaine; sons, Steven (Laurie) Garrett Jr. of Boone and Tony (Sherry) Garrett of Fostoria; stepsons, Kenny (Pam) Gifford of Taylor, TX, Todd (Jody) Gifford of Algona and Chad (Saundra) Gifford of Burt; a daughter-in-law, Jessica McVay of Clarion; 17 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; and sisters, Madeline (Johnny) Guitare of Danville, IL, Rose Conway of Emmetsburg, Mary (Ray) Blanchard of Mason City and Ann Heath of Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Shirley; a son, Troy Lambert; grandparents, John and Rose Goeders-Smith and Cecile and Florence Garrett; and brothers, Bob Garrett, Nick Cliffton, Walter Garrett II.
