Steven Eugene “Steve” Pope, 67, of Bloomington, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, November 5, 2021 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Steve was born October 17, 1954 in Bloomington and was the son of the late William Earl and Wilma Jean (Nikirk) Pope. Steve graduated in the Class of 1972 from Bloomington High School South and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of Souls Harbor Apostolic Church and loved to hunt, camp, and spend time with his family.
Steve married Ronda Henderson on August 19, 1972, and they enjoyed 49 years of marriage. Steve is survived by his wife Ronda Pope; daughters, Tabetha (Andy) Richardson, Tiffany (Rob) Fizer; son, Travis (Leslie) Pope; 11 grandchildren: Kelsey Richardson, Austin (Lexus) Richardson, Casey Fizer, Gage Pope, Kurtis (Caylan) Richardson, Holly Fizer, Greyson Pope, Liberty Fizer, Aaron Richardson, Kole Richardson, and Nora Richardson; 2 great- grandchildren, Sawyer Richardson and Klarah Richardson; 2 sisters, Sherry (Gary) Hart, and Kathy (David) Ward; and 3 brothers, Rick (Melody) Pope, Mike (Missy) Pope, and Tom (Alice) Pope.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; 2 grandchildren; great grandson, Bearett Samson “Bear” Richardson; sister, Teresa Moore and brother, David Pope.
