Obituary
WATSONTOWN — Steven E. Graves, 45, of State Route 54, Watsontown, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Williamsport Hospital after a courageous 15 month battle with colon cancer.
Born September 26, 1962 in Wellsboro, he was the son of Francis E. and Ellen G. (Steadman) Graves of Westfield. On May 18, 1985 he married the former Crystal A. Reynolds and they have celebrated nearly 23 years of marriage.
A 1980 graduate of Warrior Run High School, Steve has been employed by the Warrior Run School District the past 26 years, most recently at Watsontown Elementary School.
He has been a volunteer coach for mroe than 24 years, having coached T-Ball, Little League, Midge League, and Teener League baseball in Exchange, Turbotville, McEwensville and Watsontown. He also coached Midget League Football in Turbotville for a few years.
He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, enjoyed golf and hunting and liked bowling with the Milton and Muncy Leagues.
He was a devoted husband and father and loved staying involved with all the activities of his children.
He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, McEwensville.
Surviving besides his wife are three children: Danielle M., Ashley R., and Tyler S. Graves, all at home; a brother, Jeff Graves and his wife Linda, of Watsontown; two sisters: Darlene Oakes and Donna Love and her husband Roy, all of Turbotville; and eight nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, McEwensville with Pastor Amelia Shivers officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville from 2 to 4 PM Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society, Central Susquehanna Unit, 1948 East Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
