Steven Burdell Tipping “Tip”, 64, of Ogden, Utah rode his final horse over the finish line on December 28, 2021. He was born February 3, 1957, in Ogden, Utah to Shirley McGrady and Burdell Tipping. He grew up in Ogden, Utah and Windsor, Colorado.
Steve spent his younger years involved in rodeo, riding bucking ponies, steers, and calves. He rode in the Coca Cola Cowboy portion of the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo.
While attending Weber High School he started wrestling, riding bulls and racing horses. He excelled at all of them, but he chose a career in the Horse Racing Industry. He traveled all over the Country riding and racing horses for approximately 30 years. He was the leading jockey at Rupert, Burley and Pocatello, Idaho.
For those that knew him well, knew he had a special sense for working with animals, most of the time the animals could probably understand him better than humans.
Steve was a very hard worker and expected others to be the same. He had a wide variety of jobs after his Racing Career ended. His most recent job was working for Nutraceutical Company, where he made many friends that treated him well.
Steve enjoyed being outdoors, his animals and joking with everyone.
Survivors include Steve’s brothers and sisters; Janet Lind, Tammy (Terry) Yates, Shannon (Almario) ByLilly, Erin (Jeff) Smith, Matt (Krystal) Tipping, stepsisters; Kathy (Tim) Weber, Beverly Ziemer, Barbara (Kevin) Oeth, Elena Ayala, and stepbrother; Damian Ayala, previous stepmother Pam Tipping and current stepmother; Gloria Ayala Tipping, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Burdell Tipping and Shirley (John) Martindale, brother-in-law Tim Lind, stepsister Sonya Ayala.
Steve was always looking out for the other guy and would want you to do the same.
