Steve was born in Miami, FL in 1955. He retired after more than 25 years as a City of Miami Firefighter. After retirement, he moved to Pembroke Pines in 1997 and passed away at the UM Sylvester Cancer Center as a result of surgical complications.
In 1958, he was miraculously cured by The Lord and prayer [and written up as a “Medical” Miracle of course] of kidney cancer – with no trace left of the cancer, only the lifetime scar from the removal of his kidney by doctors, proving again that God is The Ultimate Healer. He grew up in the Redlands (where he returned to as an adult), later moving to the Westchester area; graduating from Southwest High School in 1973.
After brief endeavors, he joined the long history of more than 12 Lundstedt’s (past and present) to serve on both City of Miami, and Metro-Dade County Fire Departments. Steve drove “the Quint” (the largest ladder truck), for 25 years, bearing the distinction of having never sustained one scratch or dent while doing so! There were few drivers able to make that same claim.
After retirement he spent much of his time with family and friends – and all activities which came with both. He moved to Pembroke Pines in 1997, and passed away at the UM Sylvester Cancer Center, after a strong battle by both Steve & the medical personnel, as a result of surgical complications. Steve also left at Sylvester Cancer Center, the doctors and nurses who helped him in those struggles, feeling privileged to have been a brief part of a very special man’s life. We thank each of them for their best efforts and hope they will come and join us during this special evening for Steve!
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Darlene, and his brothers, Billy and Tom, nieces, Firefighter Linda Lundstedt and Dr.
He also enjoyed sports, family and friends, as well as being with all of us & a good party!
