Steve Hampton unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, March 13th, 2022 at age 69 in Dalton, Georgia alongside his family and loved ones. He was born on April 19th, 1952 to his parents William (Dee) Hampton and Eleanor Hampton in Dalton, Georgia. Steve, a proud family man, was a husband to Cathy Hampton for 47 years, a father to Brad (Alli) and Kevin Hampton, a brother to Beth (Wayne) Smith, Wayne (Gina) Hampton, and Bobbie (Lee) Hurt, and his personal favorite: a grandfather to Kate, Braiden, and Layna Grace Hampton, and Addi and Emma Bailiff.
He loved his family selflessly and wholeheartedly and took every chance he was given to show them off. He was always proudly boasting about his grandchildren to any and everyone who would listen and never missed a game, a performance, or graduation. He was the protector and the biggest supporter of his family. Growing up, Steve was full of adventure and excitement, living his life to the fullest.
He was known to get into mischief growing up and loved to tell the stories of his adventures to his grandchildren and friends. He had the ability to capture an audience and had everyone smiling with just his ear to ear smile. Steve was passionate about vintage cars, a passion that brought him and so many others together. He could be seen every year at the annual Rod Run in Pigeon Forge sitting proudly by his El Camino “Pearl” watching the cars drive by.
He was always a hard-working man, serving his country as a military police in the Vietnam war overseas and working at Shaw Industry as a plant production scheduler for 50 years before he retired.
