Sterling Theo Michael Harrington was born on Thursday August 4th, 2022 at 6:57AM, he weighed 9 lbs. 2 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. He was (and is) the pure gift from God to our family.

(We also chose the name Michael because it was the name of Peter’s stillborn brother.)
After a long night of laboring, Sterling was born and our family had a magical first day with him, we had breakfast in bed as a family, getting to know him. There were lots of naps and cuddles, skin-to-skin snuggles, first diaper changes and Sterling’s first bath together with Joy. We loved taking in all his newborn smells, coos and sweet nature. He particularly loved cuddling with his momma.
Sterling was a promise given to us 7 years ago before we went through a difficult season in our lives and marriage. God gave Joy his name and a promise of him — a promise of goodness and blessings and miracles, which stayed with us through the biggest storm to date in our lives. It felt like God was telling Joy that we would make it and everything would be beautiful in His time.; something we could not see nor fathom during that season of our lives.
When we found out we were having a boy, we instantly knew his name. It was the name God gave to us and this promise was here – this promise still remains, even in death. We know that this is the beginning of the story and not an ending. His life and his death will have a greater impact and purpose that we can even fathom right now. He is the fulfillment of a beautiful, incredible miracle and has changed us forever.
After one magical day with our family, Sterling passed away on Friday August 5, 2022 at our home. We are forever changed by this little boy and he will always be a part of our family. His first 24 hours were such a gift to have.
We will always have 3 kids: Simon, Scarlett and Sterling.
We love you baby Sterling and we will celebrate your birthday every year, we will always remember you and we know that we will see you again soon.
