Survivors include his wife, Ida (Bailey) Burgdorf of New Whiteland, a son, Sterling E.(Marilyn) Burgdorf Jr. of Hope, three step-children, Vicki Simmons of Fishers, Greg Kennedy of Franklin and Alan (Melinda) Kennedy of Indianapolis, sister, Rosa Lee Breedlove of Missouri, two brothers, J.A. (Ruth) Burgdorf and Willard (Frances) Burgdorf both of Texas, two grandchildren, Allison Burgdorf and Andrew Burgdorf, five step-grandchildren, Laura (Nate) Salts, Ginger Mahoney, Todd Mahoney, Benjamin Kennedy and Stephanie Kennedy, two great-grandchildren, Kali Burgdorf and Jude Salts and his two dogs, Joli and Jake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. August and Viola Grace (Hill) Burgdorf and a sister, Eunice Glidden.
