Stephen M. Fitzgerald, 67, of East Hartford, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021. Born in Hartford, he was a son of the late William and Rita (McDonald) Fitzgerald. He graduated from Hartford High School where he was an excellent basketball player. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army where he served his country honorably. Stephen was a dedicated employee of the U.S. Postal service for 37 years. He was an avid sports fan, especially baseball, and loved spending time outdoors enjoying nature. He leaves his four sisters; Patricia Byrne of Vernon, Mary Baumgartel of Newington, Elizabeth Parent and her husband Philip of East Hartford, and Theresa Makar and her husband Nicholas of California. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his brothers John Fitzgerald and William Fitzgerald Jr., and his brother-in-law Philip Baumgartel.
