After his discharge, Steve found his true calling in life. He became a special education teacher and was employed by Northern High School in Calvert County, MD for the past 15 years. Stephen was well loved by students, parents and faculty. He enjoyed coaching softball and beamed proudly of the back-to-back softball championships in Maryland. Stephen had a great love of sports. He loved his “O’s”, Baltimore Orioles, and the Miami Dolphins. Stephen enjoyed time with his golf buddies from Connecticut and their annual trips to Ocean City, MD and tailgating at the UCONN football games. Survivors include his father John Manning, of Newington, his brother Michael Manning and his wife Donna and their children Kelley and Matthew all of Berlin. Stephen had numerous friends in both Connecticut and Maryland and was described by many as “no truer friend”.
