Jewett City – Stephen Joseph Kowalski, 83, of Pleasant View St. died unexpectedly Saturday at the W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich.
He was born in Jewett City on October 20, 1930 son of the late Sylvester and Adele (Keritis) Kowalski. Stephen worked most of his life at the Federal Paper Board in Sprague. On November 10, 1979 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Rodgers at St. Nicholas Church in Norwich. Mrs. Kowalski survives her husband of 34 years.
In addition to his wife Stephen is survived by a son Stephen J, Kowalski, Jr. of Moosup, a daughter, Robin Shanatte of Norwich, a step-daughter, Jeanette Rouillard, two step sons, Edward Cote and Lucien Cote, thirteen grandchildren, a sister Wanda Kulos of Norwich. He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Michael, Alex and Philip and three sisters, Helen Skorupski, Jennie Sawchuk, Julie Trudelle.
