Stephen H. Cox, 61, of Virginia, IL died Thursday evening, October 22, 2009 at St. Johnâ??s Hospice in Springfield, IL.
He was born November 30, 1947 in Beardstown, IL; the son of Jesse Howard and Rosalie Lutkehus Cox. He married Karen Coffey and they were later divorced.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Curry (husband, Ron) of Ashland and Bridgett Burke (husband, Jeff) of Springfield; two sons, Stephen Cox Jr. (wife, Glenda) of Cashiers, NC and Chad Cox of Virginia; four grandchildren; a brother, Greg Cox of Springfield; and a sister, Cathy Cox of Ashland. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margie Cox Stephenson.
Mr. Cox was a graduate of Virginia High School and served with the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked several years in the construction field prior to retiring in 1984. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
