Stephen T. Evenson, age 73, of Algona, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at his home in Algona. Stephen Thomas Evenson, the son of Ivan and Eunice (Granseth) Evenson, was born on March 27, 1943 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He attended Ottosen elementary schools and graduated from Twin Rivers High School. Stephen served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard and was honorably discharged on June 14, 1970.

On December 7, 1968 Stephen was united in marriage with Karen Ann Gray at the Ramsey Reformed Church in Titonka, Iowa. He was a devoted farmer all his life. Stephen also worked for the Algona Ambulance Service as an EMT for 25 years, the Algona Raceway and MaxYield. Stephen was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Algona and the American Legion. He enjoyed tractor rides, cars and fishing. Vacationing in warm places during the winter months with Karen was an annual event. He also enjoyed to fish, play board games with grandchildren and especially loved his time spent in Okoboji.

Stephen is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen of Algona; his children: Monica (Brian) Klein of Whittemore, Christopher (Alana) Evenson of Monroe, Washington and Kelley (Josh) Helmers of Algona; grandchildren: Erica, Ciera, Sadie, Cort, Lane, Adam, Cheyenne, Sheridan, Autumn, Brooklyn and Brielle; great grandson, Braylon; his siblings, David (Margaret) Evenson of Liberty, Missouri, Jeanie (Steve) Navota of Lombard, Illinois and Dan Evenson (Kalene Green) of Humboldt. He was preceded in death by his parents.
