Stephan (Steve) Czapla, of DeMotte, a proud Father and Grandfather who loved his family, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at the age of 58.
Steve is survived by his parents, Stanley & Karen Czapla; his 3 daughters: Amanda, Megan, & Melanie (Arie); his 2 granddaughters, Elena & Alexa; fiancé, Molly Schneider and her children: Kendall (Logan), Corey (Tabitha), & Garrett; his 3 siblings Ronald (Karen) Czapla, Kristine (Zane) Feitshans, Cynthia Czapla (Dave MacDonald); many nieces & nephews; and his critter companions: Mister Kitty, Princess, Jinx, Snickers, Emily, and granddog, Zoe.
Steve was born to Stanley & Karen (nee Sampson) Czapla in Hammond, Indiana on February 20, 1963. He graduated from Crown Point High School in 1981 and then joined the pipefitter’s apprenticeship as the youngest member at 18 years old and was the first pipefitter to be fired by his Father (but also rehired).
Steve was an avid music lover, primarily loving the classic rock genre, and a musician, playing the bass in his church band at Grace Fellowship. He loved to fish, the Chicago White Sox, peanut buster parfaits, terrorizing Stan & Karen’s pup Gretel, sitting on his front porch watching birds with Princess, and getting eye level with any of his nieces or nephews to play. Steve is best known for his infectious laughter, the joy he brought his family, and his warped sense of humor.
