Mrs. Williams peacefully passed away at her residence. She is the mother of Erwin and Karl Williams and Beverly Wardlow.
Sister Williams began her walk with the Lord in the mid 1950’s at Greater Jackson Memorial COGIC, under the pastorage of the late Bishop J. A. Blake. Sister Williams, who earned an A.A. Degree in Theology, also received her Missionary’s License under the late Mother Golda Sherman. Sister Williams operated in several gifting’s as intercessor, encourager, teacher and she was a great mentor to many women. Her desire was to see others set free from all that held them back from victorious living and to walk them through being released from bondage and move into the destiny that God had for them.
Sister Williams began her first works in the ministry with two other saints and started prayer meetings in Linda Vista and from the beginning, many souls were saved and filled with the Holy Ghost. Sister Williams’ hands were always busy for the Lord, holding countless Bible classes in a variety of places and she called her children’s lessons the “Good News Club”. Her goal was to help them understand the gift of salvation and how to accept the Lord in the Linda Vista community.
Sister Williams was honored to speak several times at the COGIC State Convention on Women’s Day in Los Angeles. She also served as President of the Young Women’s Christian Counsel and was a teacher in the Prayer and Bible Band in San Diego, District #1. Sister Williams worked faithfully at Greater Jackson Memorial COGIC as a Deaconess, a Sunday School Teacher and as Sunshine Band President.
She was the loving wife of Leroy Williams. Four children were born to their union. Her youngest son, Leroy Jr. preceded her in death on September 6, 2006 and her husband, Leroy Sr. on November 11, 2009 after fifty-eight years of marriage.
Sister Stella Williams was called from earthly labor to eternal rest on July 1, 2014. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Karl L. Williams of Tucson, AZ, Erwin D. Williams of San Diego, CA and Beverly L. Wardlow (Pastor James Wardlow) of Puyallup, WA; five sisters and two brothers, Lucille Keys of Bastrop, LA, Frankie Hillard of San Diego, CA, Barbara Peyton (Charles) of Bremerton, WA, Shirley Hillard of San Diego, CA, Paul Hillard of San Diego, CA, James Hillard of Oceanside, CA and Joyce Grimes (Larry) of Newport, DE; seven grandchildren, Bill Wardlow (Sharion) of Puyallup, WA, Dewayne Williams of Norfolk, VA, Katina Lackey (Ty) of Norfolk, VA, Elita Hester (Bryan) of Denver, CO, Noah Williams (Candace) of San Diego, CA, Kristell Williams of Fresno, CA and Maria Wardlow of Juneau, AK; fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews, one requiring special mention, Naomi White, other relatives and a host of friends.
