Stella Lucille Birkland, 91, of Estherville passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society in Estherville. Stella was born on April 26, 1929 in Cylinder, IA to Harold and Rachel (McKinney) Kooker. She attended school in Cylinder. Stella was united in marriage to Kenneth Birkland on August 2, 1947 in Fairmont, MN. She worked at Hy Vee for 26 years as a Bookkeeper until her retirement in 1991. In her free time, she enjoyed tending to her home and spending time with family. Stella is survived by her children, son Charles (Lori) Birkland of Spirit Lake, IA; daughter Charlene (Doug) Yates of Buffalo, MN; brother Paul Kooker of Emmetsburg, IA; sister-in-law Mrs. Beverly Kooker of Colorado Springs, CO; sister-in-law Regina (Karl) Johnson of Des Moines, IA; brother-in-law Ron Keeling of Blue Springs, MO of 9 grandchildren, Matthew Yates, Nathan (Jill) Yates, Ryan (Jill) Birkland, Jordan Birkland, Zachary Birkland, Grace Birkland, Elizabeth Tostenson, Carissa (Phil) Melvin, and Rachel Keeling, 6 great grandchildren, Peyton Yates, Greyson Yates, Elliot Birkland, Kaylee Melvin, Bailey Melvin and Lily Birkland. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 70 years Kenneth and daughter Candace Keeling.
