Stefan A. Zembko, 94, of New Britain passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Wincenty and Anna (Lipovska) Zembko and was a lifelong resident. He grew up during the Great Depression and remembered how it brought everyone together. Stefan was employed by Fafnir Textron as a setup man for 32 years, retiring in 1983. He was proud of his hard work which enabled him to provide for his family. Stefan was an avid golfer, specializing in the nine iron and chipping. He always enjoyed being outdoors, picking nuts and wild mushrooms and admiring nature and wildlife. Stefan was the loving husband of the late Estelle (Kapustinski) Zembko for 65 years prior to her death in 2008. He is survived by his three sons: Stephen and his wife, Margaret of Southington, Michael, also of Southington and David and his wife, Nancy Torchio-Zembko of Manchester; two grandchildren, Deborah and Robert; and his sister, Florence Smigiel of Rockfall. Stefan was predeceased by four brothers: Henry, Bruno, John and Edward Zembko and six sisters: Stella Zembko, Mary Srogi, Alice Murawski, Sophie Smigiel, Helen Kundra and Irene Wolf. The Zembko family would like to extend their thanks to all the staff at Msgr. Bojnowski Manor for their compassionate care and support during Stefan’s stay there.
