Stanley W. “John” Henry II – February 25, 1951 – May 11, 2014. Stanley W. “John” Henry II, 63, passed in his Troy, IL home on May 11, 2014 after a long and brave battle against cancer. Surrounded by family and friends he enjoyed life with a sense of humor and grace until the very end.
John grew up in Union City, Indiana and was a 1969 graduate of Union City Community High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army serving in Okinawa, Japan and Stuttgart, Germany for 21 years before retiring. Following his retirement, John continued to serve the armed forces and his country as a communication specialist with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) at Patch Barracks, Stuttgart, Germany.
In 2000, John became the DISA CONUS Branch Chief at Scott AFB, IL. John was also a key player to the first DISA web based telecom ordering system. His position moved to Ft. Meade, Maryland in July 2012. John worked with many DISA Customers to provide support and took pride in his work. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #6, Stuttgart, Germany.
John married Hannelore (Hanni) Strähle on December 18, 1981 in Stuttgart, Germany. She survives along with his beloved daughter Nicole (Aaron) Booton and two beautiful grandchildren Ava and Aiden Booton, Riverside, Illinois, sisters Susan (Henry) Christensen, Georgetown, Kentucky and Georgeanna Rosenbush, South Bend, Indiana, 10 nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents Marjorie and Robert Rosenbush and brother Patrick Henry.
When John entered a room his enormous love for life and spirit encompassed those present. He shared his vivacious personality and humor with all who knew him and demonstrated an intense passion for his family and friends, love of movies, theatre and work with computers throughout his life. John’s generosity, compassion and loyalty were beyond reproach and touched all those who knew him and echoes within our thoughts, our words, our hearts and became a part of all that we are. He will be dearly missed.
