Stanley R. Marquiss, age 87 of Hope died at his residence on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. The son of the late Lester and Maggie (Sperry) Marquiss was born on November 27, 1928 in Ovid, MI.

Stanley served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal and five Bronze Service Stars. After thirteen months of combat duty in Korea Corporal Marquiss married the former Elaine Manges on August 14, 1951. Elaine predeceased Stanley on April 13, 2012 after nearly sixty one years of marriage. Prior to his service in the US Army, he was employed by the former Bandeen Chevrolet. He retired in 1984 from Dow Chemical after thirty two years of service as a plant mechanic. After his retirement he worked for Joe’s Trucking and later drove cars for McArdle’s Cadillac for several years. Stanley enjoyed deer hunting, salmon fishing and camping at East Lake in Manistee for many years. He and his wife traveled to Florida and Branson, Missouri several times.

Stanley is survived by his son Randy (Dawn) Marquiss of Midland; daughter Luann Russell and fiancée Thomas Holsinger; three grandsons Barry, Brett and Adam Marquiss; brother Bill (Priscilla) Marquiss; and sister Betty Mudd. In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by his son Roger Marquiss.
