Stanley J. Venoit, 91, of 22 Masonic Ave., Wallingford, formerly of New Haven, passed away June 18, 2011 in Mid State Medical Center. He was the husband of Alyce Shore Venoit. Mr. Venoit was born in Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada on July 7, 1919, son of the late Stanley E. and Anne J. Wrigley Venoit. He was a New Haven resident for 73 years. He served as a Tech.Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Subsequent to that, he served as Executive Secretary in the Mayor’s Office under Mayor Celentano for three years and then worked as assistant to Charley Loftus in the Yale Office of Sports Information for several years. More recently, he was a news reporter covering City Hall for the New Haven REGISTER until his retirement in March 1986. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Stanley J. Venoit Jr. of Wallingford, Paul J. Venoit of East Hampton and Peter L. Venoit of Virginia Beach, VA.; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
