Stanley Clyde Allen peacefully passed April 19, 2015, in Tempe, Arizona where he enjoyed the warm winters, secure in the love of his family. He was 80 years old.
Stan was born on January 15, 1935 in Jackson, Wyoming the second son of Buck L and Ethel Wilson Allen. Raised in Salmon, Idaho on a purebred Hereford ranch, Stan graduated from Salmon High School where he was the captain of the football team. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Rose Smith in 1957. The newlyweds moved to South Dakota residing in Pierre, Rapid City and Spearfish. Stan worked for Western Livestock Reporter as a Field Editor supporting the purebred livestock industry in South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska and Colorado for over 40 years. He retired in 1998 and devoted his remaining years to enjoying life with his family and friends.
Stan was a dedicated supporter and advocate for kids in agriculture, sharing his love of livestock and passion for animal husbandry with all.
Stan is survived by his ever supportive wife Sharon; daughters and sons-in-law, Teri and Bill Kinghorn of Rapid City, SD, Lisa and Mike Brown of Phoenix, AZ; son and daughter-in-law Tom and Kelli Allen of Argyle, TX; three grandchildren, Cash Kinghorn of Chicago, IL, Jordan and Lauren Allen of Argyle, TX; and two sisters. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Spencer Allen, his parents and a brother.
Memorials: A Stan Allen Memorial scholarship has been established at the Western Junior Livestock Show.
