Dominican Sister of Peace Sr. Rose Clement Stalter, died at Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, OH on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. She was born in Somerset, OH, on August 29, 1922. Sr. Rose Clement was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Rose (McGonagle) Stalter, her brothers Neil, Charles and James, and her sisters Louise Grimm, Marguerite Augustus and Bonnie Walters. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. She entered the Novitiate of the former Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus in 1941 and made her Profession of Vows in 1943. Sr. Rose Clement served as principal of St. Mary Grade School, Marietta, OH (1961-64) and St. Mary High School (now Bishop Fisher) Lancaster, OH. Sr. Rose Clement earned a BA from the College of St. Mary of the Springs (now Ohio Dominican University) and an MA from the Catholic University of America. In the Columbus Diocese she taught at St. Francis Grade School, Newark (1947- 48) and Rosecrans HS, Zanesville (1959-61). Sister also taught at St. Mary High School in New Haven, CT and at St. Vincent Ferrer High School in, New York City. Sr. Rose Clement held the position of Registrar at Albertus Magnus College, New Haven, CT (1970-81). Sister ministered as Treasurer, Activities Director and Pastoral Minister at Nazareth Towers (1981-1997), a residence for the elderly in Columbus. After taking part in the Christian Appalachian Project (1997-98), Sr. Rose Clement served the Diocese of Columbus in the Missions Office (1999-2005). After retiring, Sister acted as coordinator of mailings at the Motherhouse, prior to being admitted to Mohun Health Care Center in 2012.
