Sister Maureen Lowry, RSMSister Maureen Lowry, age 83, a member of the Mid-Atlantic Community, died peacefully on Wednesday November 7, 2018 at McAuley Convent in Merion, Pennsylvania. Sister Maureen received a BS from Villanova University, a M.ED in Counseling from Marquette University and a M.P.S. in Public Administration from New York University.Sister Maureen was an exceptional educator sharing her talents on the elementary and secondary level including her years as community supervisor of elementary education. In later years Sister Maureen served as President of Mercy Catholic Medical Center and as Senior Associate of Catholic Health Association of USA. In 1995 Sister was elected to the Leadership Team in the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy. Her final ministry at St. Ignatius Home as a pastoral associate brought her the greatest joy as she accompanied seniors on their final journey to is pre-deceased by her parents Margaret and Joseph Lowry and her siblings Drew, Eileen, and Jake. Sister Maureen loved being with her family. She was especially close to her nephews Joe, Matt, Tim, and Sean and enjoyed their annual Christmas get together in Cape May, NJ. Maureen will be remembered for her love of her community, the Sisters of Mercy, her vision and voice for justice issues and her generous spirit.
