Sister of Providence, Sr. Mary John Bosco, died on February 5, 2019 in the 74th year of her religious life. Born Marjorie Ann Lyons in Worcester, MA in 1926, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Murray) Lyons. Having graduated in 1944 from North High in Worcester, MA, she was a student nurse at the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing when she entered the Sisters of Providence Congregation in 1946. Following her novitiate, Sister Mary John Bosco resumed her nursing studies competing them at Mercy Hospital in 1949. She began her nursing career in the SP Infirmary in Holyoke and then moved to Worcester, MA in 1953 where she was an Assistant Supervisor in nursing at St. Vincent Hospital. In 1959, she pursued further studies earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Boston College School of Nursing in 1960. Sr. Mary John Bosco ministered for thirty-eight years at St. Vincent Hospital.
