Dominican Sister of Peace, Sr. Irene Euman, OP (85), died on August 28, 2014, at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, Ohio. She was born in Somerset, Ohio, on March 18, 1929. Sr. Irene entered the novitiate of the former Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs in 1948 and made her profession of vows in 1950. A Dominican for 64 years, Sr. Irene earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the College of St. Mary of the Springs, now Ohio Dominican University (Columbus, OH). She earned a Master of Education in Home Economics from St. Louis University (St. Louis, MO). She ministered as a teacher at Newark Catholic High School (Newark, OH); Bishop Watterson High School (Columbus, OH); Northwest Catholic High School (West Hartford, CT); Rosecrans High School (Zanesville, OH); William Fisher High School (Lancaster, OH); Dominican Academy (New York, NY); St Francis de Sales School (Newark, OH); Catholic Central High School (Steubenville, OH); and Sacred Heart School (Coshocton, OH). In 2004, Sr. Irene moved to Mohun Health Care Center (Columbus, OH), where she entered a ministry of prayer and presence. Sr. Irene is survived by sisters, Frances (Max) Baughman, Lela (John) Golden, Edythe (Don) Mahoney and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bertha (Clouse) Euman; sister, Zita Lare (AL); and brother-in-law, Don Mahoney.
