Sophie Patricia (Kaminski) Champagne-Leone 92, passed away Sunday at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Victor A. Champagne and the late Ernest Leone. She was born in Woonsocket a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Triba) Kaminski, and lived most of her life in Woonsocket. Her life was devoted to the care of her family, extended family and many friends. She is remembered as a powerful and lasting influence of selfless love which she expressed through endless caretaking, daily prayers and above all cooking. Sophie, along with her family, ran Chipmans Corner Fish and Chips, in Woonsocket, for twenty years until 1975. She was an avid card player all her life and enjoyed a good game of Bingo as well.
Sophie is survived by her six children, Helene Champagne and her husband Ted Yarnick of Bellows Falls. VT, Victor A. Champagne and his wife Jeanne of West Palm Beach, FL, Richard Champagne and his wife Colleen of Northboro, MA, Suzanne Boffi and her husband Dante of Warwick,RI, Dennis Champagne and his wife Karen of Blackstone, MA, and Louise Frenger and her husband Stephen of Slatersville, RI, with whom she lived and was cared for in the later years of her life, seventeen grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren.
