Sophie (Bartosiewicz) Markiewicz, 98, of New Britain, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016. Born in New Britain to the late Stanley and Anna (Meliski) Bartosiewicz, she was a lifelong resident. Sophie was employed by Fafnir Bearing as a press operator for many years prior to her retirement. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Leupold who was her devoted caregiver for the last 12 years. Sophie also leaves numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her brother, Edward Bartosiewicz and his wife, Phyllis. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Markiewicz; her sons, Robert and Edward Markiewicz; her grandson, Michael Markiewicz and her brothers, Alexander and John Bartosiewicz.
