HOVHANNISSIAN Sooren (Sudy) Hovhannissian, founder and owner of the Magic Carpet Store and American Homestead Furniture previously located on Boston Avenue, Bridgeport, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2006 at the age of 89. Born in Tabriz, Iran in 1916, he came to the United States in 1927 and lived in Mount Vernon, N.Y. until moving to Bridgeport after being honorably discharged from the Army after World War II.
