Life began for Mrs. Sonya Yvette Townsend on February 19, 1976. She was born to Jeanette Brooks and the late Leo Collier. She was preceded in death by her father, brother Leo Murray Brooks and mother-in-law, Mary Townsend. She departed this life on May 25, 2014 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
She was a 1994 graduate of Decatur High School. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior.
She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted and loving husband, Marlow Townsend of Decatur; one son, Jahiem D. Hambrick of Huntsville; three stepchildren, Ahreanua Lash (Rickie) of New York, Zeiera and Blake Townsend of Decatur; her mother, Jeanette Brooks Miller (Levi); three sisters, Cassandra, Katrina and Latisha Brooks of Decatur; father-in-law, Willie James Townsend, Sr. of Decatur; two sisters-in-law, Dara Jackson (Greg) and Jan Rogers (Karl) of Decatur; two brothers-in-law, Willie Townsend Jr. of Decatur, and Terry Townsend (Meredith) of Courtland; special friends, Mary Davis, her bingo buddy Lisa Hill, and Deilah Johnson, a devoted father-like figure, Albert Orr and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
