Sonya “Peaches” Latrice McCain was born on February 21, 1966, to Roger and Hattie (Coleman) Redmond, in Elkhart, Indiana.

At the age of nine years, Sonya met Bradney McCain who would later become not only her best friend, but the love of her life. The two became one on November 9, 1991. To this union, they were blessed with two children, Bridney Latrice McCain and Cameron Bryce McCain. “Peaches”, as she became known, was a loving wife, mother, and friend. She was very active in the community throughout her life and had such an infectious personality that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. From a young age, Peaches was blessed with a God-given voice. She was involved in several musical groups throughout the Michiana area and Indianapolis. She was also a choir director and the event coordinator for the None Like Us  Women’s Ministry, of Elkhart, Indiana.

Prior to moving to Indianapolis, she owned and operated an in-home daycare where she was affectionately known as “Ms. Peaches” to all the children. When she moved to Indianapolis, because of her love for children, she continued her professional journey as the Principal’s Secretary at Westlake     Elementary School in the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township.

Sonya “Peaches” Latrice McCain departed this life on Saturday, April 17, 2021.  She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Bradney McCain; her children, Bridney McCain and Cameron McCain; her parents, Roger and Hattie Redmond; her sisters, Lisa Mitchell and Regina (Kim) Fultes; one granddaughter, Kyleah McCain; parents-in-love, Rev. Herman (Ola) Washington; mother-in-love, Kathleen McCain; brother-in-love, Blake (Delores) McCain; two godsisters, Angelina Conard and Katilyn Mitchell, a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, six godchildren, and friends who all love her dearly.

Sonya was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jessie and Hattie Coleman and Robert and Mary Redmond.
