Mrs. Linthicum, age 82 of York, SC, and formerly of Oakboro, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 30, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She was the wife of the late Denzal Linthicum and the daughter of the late Sam and Gladys Black. In addition to her parents and husband, Sonja was preceded in death by one son, Terrance Linthicum; one sister, Judith Ward; and one brother, Sammy Black.

She was a loving and devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a homemaker with a special heart and love for children, search a word puzzles, candy and her dogs. Her light and love for Jesus could brighten any dark sky. Her infectious laugh, warm hugs and “I love you buddy!” would warm anyone’s heart. After the death of her husband, Sonja moved to Oakboro to be closer to her family. While there, she created some of the most special friendships and made lasting memories with her kids and grandchildren.

Sonja is survived by one son, Barton Linthicum and wife Cereese of Locust; one daughter, Michelle Terry and husband Steve of York. Sonja is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Tara Linthicum, Matthew Linthicum and wife Miranda, Melissa Linthicum; Ashley Adkins and husband Dylan, Brandon Terry, Shannon Bacogeorge and husband Jimmy, Matt Pintea and wife Elizabeth; nine great-grandchildren, Autumn, Kamryn, Autumn, Savannah, Noah, Silas, Lucy Leigh and Laken; one brother, Joe Wood and wife Nanette of Sherrills Ford, NC; and one fur baby, Stache Linthicum.

Sonja’s family would like to thank everyone for their love and support over the past several years. We know that she is dancing with her husband at the feet of Jesus, while her son, Terrence, watches in awe.
