Solomon Hobbs Jr. was born on Thursday, August 22, 1935 to the union of Solomon Hobbs Sr. and Maggie Lois McClinton.
Solomon grew up in the north Mississippi town of Batesville (Panola County) MS, where he and his two older sisters, Sarah Lois and Johnnie May, and younger brother, Charles, attended Mt.
He attended elementary and high school in Batesville and graduated in1956. He was a gifted athlete and excelled in both basketball and football. He was captain of both teams in his junior and senior years.
Solomon loved his Chicago sports teams, especially the Chicago Cubs; and he often volunteering at local high school sporting events.
Solomon is survived by his loving wife, Oytie; one son, Craig of Palo Alto, CA; two daughters, Annette Ashford (Willie) of Berkeley, IL; Renee Reeves (Mario) of Bloomington, IL. One sister, Sarah Martin of Fontana, CA and one brother, Charles Hobbs (Marva) of LaVerne, CA. He is cherished and loved by his four grandsons – Devan, Darion, Airius, and Amauri; Goddaughter – Talona; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
