Smith E. “Smitty” Salsgiver, 83, of Wildwood Blvd., died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Hillside Assisted Living Community.

Smitty and his wife, the former Ruby M. Zinck, celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary Jan. 1, 2010.

Smitty retired from Trimtex in 1989 as a Plant Manager, after working in the textile industry his entire career.

He was an Army veteran of WWII and was a member of St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church for 62 years and Lodge 106, F. & A.M. for 54 years.

Born Sept. 6, 1926 in Smithmills, Clearfield County, he was the son of David and Daisy Davis Salsgiver.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Rev. Dr. Thomas L. (Joanne) of Lewisburg; a daughter, Terri L. (George) Gragson of Lake Charles, LA and grandchildren, Heather Slavin, Rebecca (Daniel) Cronrath, Pastor Brent (Elizabeth) Salsgiver and Annie Laurie Gragson.

Smitty was predeceased by sisters, Meta Johnson and Jean Shafer and a brother Cy Salsgiver.
