Skip Gardner, 78, of Salem, passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at his home. He was born November 4, 1942, in Cuyahoga Falls, son of the late Lorena McCammon.

After graduating from Cuyahoga Falls High School, Skip served in the U.S. Navy and pursued many occupations.  After retiring from Terry’s Tire Town as a truck driver, Skip spent several years as a custodian at Heartland Christian School. Skip enjoyed his service as Head Usher at Tri-County Church of God and was a very involved member of the Pastor’s Council.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Gardner Sr., son Chris Gardner and great grandson, Cash Gardner.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Becky (Zepernick Hillman) Gardner; children, Kelly Gardner, Lori (Tim) Smith, Jo (Jason) Gomoll, and Robert (Ericka) Hillman; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and sisters, Geneva (Paul) Bingham and Terry (Bill) Corbin.

Skip was a devoted father to Kelly, Lori, and Chris. When he married Becky on December 10, 1994, he added two stepchildren to his family, Jo and Bob.  He loved spending time with his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Skip will be greatly missed by all of them, especially his 2-year-old grandson, Julian.  They were best friends and spent many days playing and laughing together.

Skip was always busy working on projects around the house. He was also very social and enjoyed talking and having coffee with friends. He will be missed by many.
