Sister Mary Damien Liu OSB, a member of the Benedictines of Jesus Crucified of the Monastery of the Glorious Cross, 61 Burban Dr., Branford died Nov. 2, 2011 in New Haven. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii she was a daughter of the late Walter H.S. Liu Sr. and Odelian K.Y.S Chang Liu. She was educated by the Maryknoll Sisters and  Franciscan Sisters of Syracuse on Oahu and later in Spokane, WA by the Sisters of the Holy Name of Jesus and Mary. Upon entering the order Sister Mary Damien was first a member of Regina Mundi Priory in Devon, PA followed by St. Paul’s Priory in Newport, RI before moving to Branford. She proudly celebrated her Golden Jubilee on June 25, 2011. She was the sister of Walter (Vivian) H.S. Liu Jr. of Muskegon. MI,  Lorna L.U. Liu Ota and Sr. Rochelle Liu OSF both of Oahu, Hawaii and the late Paul Everett (Janet) S.F. Liu. She is also survived by her step father George Kaikana, step sister Wendy Olsen and many nieces and nephews.
