SISTER HELENA SMITH, OLVM, age 96, a resident of Victory Noll, died Sunday evening, August 26, 2012 at Holy Family Health Care Center at Victory Noll, Huntington. Sister Helena entered the Congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters on October 28, 1939 and made first vows on August 5, 1942. She served in the missions in Utah, Indiana, Florida and California.
She returned to Victory Noll in 2000 to retire. Sister Helena was born in New Oxford, Pennsylvania on August 20, 1916 to Stanislaus and Catherine Smith. Four brothers, Philip, Leon, William and Edgar Smith, and five sisters, Regina Lawrence, Edith Roth, Stella Smith, Margaret Smith and Rita Timmins, precede her in death. She is survived by several nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania and her OLVM community in which she shared life and community with for 73 years.
