Silas Lee Payne, age 64, of Atlanta, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. He was born on March 14, 1958 in Tipton, to his parents, Ira Lee Payne & Nannie Francis (Phillips) Payne. Lee married Marcia (Tuck) Payne on April 20, 1985, and she preceded him in death on September 20, 2010. Lee married Donna (Morris) Payne on May 21, 2011, and she survives.

Lee graduated from Tipton High School in the Class of 1976. He then went on to study Diesel Mechanics at Lincoln Technical Institute. Lee was employed for Acraline in Tipton for around 20 years, where he worked as a fabricator and a machinist. In 2008, Lee began working for Becks Hybrid as a Facilities & Production team member. Later he transitioned to the Processing Maintenance team at the home office in Atlanta. Lee will be greatly missed by his Beck’s family.

Lee had a no-nonsense approach to life! He truly was loyal, real and sincere in every way! Most importantly, if he said he was going to do something he always kept his word. Lee was a rugged man, who was extremely strong and capable to do any job given to him. His work ethic was impeccable! He loved hunting turkey and whitetail deer. He could be found frequently driving his big truck, his wife shotgun, usually with an animal by his side. Lee was honestly a big teddy bear, with a huge heart. You would be hard pressed to find a man who loved his family more than Lee Payne! Every time he talked about his wife, son and grandkids his eyes beamed with pride. Lee was strong in his faith, and was an example to many. He will be so greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Those left to carry on Lee’s legacy of love are his wife, Donna Payne; son, Eric (Christa) Key; grandchildren, Nathan Key, Wyatt Key; siblings, Elizabeth (Steve) Scott, Rick (Carmen) Payne; nieces, Jessie (Frank), Kirstin (Tony), Kelsie; great nephews, Lincoln, Myles; as well as unofficially adopted family, Shaun, Nora & Kinley Privett.
