Sigrid Blanchefleur (Heraucourt) Guerra, of Cromwell, quietly passed away in her beloved home on April 22, 2013.
Born in 1924 in Wismar, Germany, she grew up enjoying the lightheartedness of living on a big country estate. During WWII, she served her country as a Red Cross nurse. In 1945, she reached Hamburg and Lubeck as a refugee having to leave all her belongings. After working in Germany and New York for a while she finally left her home and family in 1959 to immigrate to America and to find happiness with Max Guerra. They were both admirers of the arts, music, and opera. Once in the states, she became a dedicated employee of the Hartford Insurance for over twenty-five years. She also worked a nurse’s aide at Saint Francis Hospital and was a member of German Singerbund in Newington.
