Shirley Yvonne Smith went to be with the Lord peacefully at her home on September 20, 2013. Her daughter was at her side. She was the daughter of the late Mary Ethel (Thompson) and the Reverend E. Elias Jackson. Educated in the Norwich School System, Shirley was the matriarch of a close knit family and Nana to many in the community. She was a foster mother to over 70 children for which received numerous local and state awards for the love and care she provided for her “kids” who she raised and cared for as her own.
