Shirley Mae (Dooley) Williams, 89, of Kansas City formerly of the Moberly area, left this life on July 31, 2020. She was born July 3, 1931, in Moberly, to the union of Ervin and Margaret (Swearngin) Dooley.

She is survived by her daughter Connie Scott and her husband Kenny, son Terry Williams and his wife Sue; three grandsons Bobby, Scott, and Jason; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons,  her youngest sister Toni Bartram of Kansas City, Missouri,  nieces, nephews, and lifetime friends in many places across the country.

Shirley worked when she was quite young at the Hosiery Mill in Moberly, Missouri; but met Arthur B. Williams when she was 15 years old. Art made a good impression on Shirley’s mother and showed that he loved Shirley extremely. They were married on May 30, 1948. They were happily married until May 8, 2016, when Art expired. However, in Shirley’s heart, they were still married. She was always Art’s Blue-eyed girl. As Shirley and Art raised their two children, Shirley found one of the happiest times of her life. She was an excellent mother and could be seen giving Unbirthday parties for the neighborhood children complete with ice cream and cake.  She was a room mother for both her children continuing the cake, cupcake and cookie routine.

In 1968 Shirley gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and that love for life was turned into serving the Lord. She carried all that hospitality to helping others in the life of the Christian.  Her love for music made her open to singing in church, playing the piano at times and in general expressing her gratitude for life to God through music. She continued to do that until her health began to hinder her earlier in 2020.  She served in this way first at Genessee Gospel Assembly, Moberly Gospel Assembly, and most recently Arborknoll Gospel Assembly.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, and sisters Betty Sawyer, Joyce Dooley, Joann McLain, Carolyn Nordwall, and a brother Billy Dooley.
